Pics and a story

An unexpected thing happened in my 2nd grade class today. Two of the students lied to me. I was quite surprised. After much trouble trying to just get the students to quiet down and take out their books, two students still didn't have their books out. I asked where their books were. They said at home. Are you sure? Yes. I asked them to stand with their hands in the air, a penalty for not bringing their books. Then they both said, oh wait, I have it, and immediately both took their books out from their desks. The weird thing was one of the students, a girl, was not usually a troublemaker. Students have used this excuse before. I wonder now if they were being honest.
